I go through the same things when I'm doing Tae Kwon Do. There are days in class where I have every thing down exactly, and other days where I can't tell left from right and can't remember the simple stuff. It's all about focus and energy.Pollyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13747958243702670987noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5114234807276194338.post-37330275535760448882009-01-16T23:24:00.000-05:002009-01-16T23:24:00.000-05:00Congratz, despite your last post, you are off to a...Congratz, despite your last post, you are off to a good year! In fact sometimes even when my opponent is being annoying, I might wait until the game is over to say something. Depending on what's going on over the board, it's sometimes better to try to tune out the annoyance instead of breaking the flow of my calculations.

Sometimes the act of telling someone to stop doing something becomes a bigger distraction then the actual behavior. In this particular case since I was getting distracted by everything going on around me, I just felt enough was enough. Also I felt the kid was allowing himself to be badgered by this guy, and my "mother instict" came out. Despite the lack of children of my own, I'm still hardwired to be protective of children like a parent would.Pollyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13747958243702670987noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5114234807276194338.post-69743393238746448622009-01-15T14:25:00.000-05:002009-01-15T14:25:00.000-05:00Congratulations on a second place! This row in the ...Congratulations on a second place!
This row in the table looks good.
You see, these kids are beatable :).
Though, I just read about "nine-year-old grandmaster slayer" on chessbase, how kid rated 1800 beat 2400 GM. You did a good job of evoking the tension between you trying to focus on your games (with the added anxiety of playing underrated players) with the annoying distraction of the guy who kept offering draws. Well done. Chess mom P.S. I was really happy with how I played, particularly in the opening.

I think I've avoided the Queen's Gambit because I've had difficulty playing against the King's Indian. Because you basically played one this game.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
