After awhile their reputation catches up with them, and the tournament director then responds accordingly.

I was perfectly happy not to play AK when I was in LA last month. He caused me enough aggravation sitting near him so much.Pollyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13747958243702670987noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5114234807276194338.post-60216564756281002862008-06-14T01:34:00.000-04:002008-06-14T01:34:00.000-04:00Ah... During my game with AK a few months ago (the only time I have ever played him), he accused me of moving a piece with one hand and punching the clock with the other. He was extremely rude with the way he said it, which was all the more irritating because his claim was totally false. I never, ever, use both hands to make a move, largely because I play chess left handed and write my moves with my right hand. Additionally, the clock in our game was on the left, so AK's claim was even more implausible since he was suggesting I moved with my right hand (which I never do, it feels totally unnatural to me) and punched the clock with my left hand, or he was saying I moved a piece with my left hand and then bizarrely leaned across the table to punch the clock with my right hand (which would actually have taken more time than punching the clock with my left hand). We were not in a time scramble or anything. It was AK's usual psychological tricks.

Fortunately, they didn't work and I used his rudeness as extra motivation that helped me to win the game. mwahahahahaMatt Hayeshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03057037670306051027noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5114234807276194338.post-15847574378464014752008-06-13T17:58:00.000-04:002008-06-13T17:58:00.000-04:00Thank you Polly, this demystifies things a bit for...Thank you Polly, this demystifies things a bit for me. I don't want to be anal "Rule 28C says you can't use both of your hands to make moves." and at the same time I don't want to lose a point or half-point due to off-the-board shenanigans. Now I have some idea how to handle things. Enjoy your trip to Korea! That sounds very exciting and I'm sure you'll have a great time. :)likesforestshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12363355892919115087noreply@blogger.com
