Happy Thanksgiving!

I hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving.

Good luck to anyone playing in any of the various Thanksgiving weekend tournaments. Last year I played in Philadelphia at the National Chess Congress. The year before I played in Los Angeles at the American Open. I was planning on heading to Philly again, but......

....I figured I'd better use up some frequent flier miles before the all the airlines merge into one and dump everyone's miles. With that in mind, and an opportunity to find another state I haven't played in before I'm off to Redmond (Microsoft Land), WA to play in the Washington State Class Championships. I wonder if they'll confiscate my Mac Book at the city line?

I fly out Friday morning, and will play the two day schedule. I will arrive early enough on Friday that I can play in the blitz tournament that evening. I just didn't want to take a bye for round one and play the three day schedule, or have to worry about my flight being delayed.

Enjoy your turkey today, and hopefully I won't play like a turkey over the weekend. What do they say? "You are what you eat."

Happy Turkey Day to you, too! The weekend tourneys are tempting... but methinks this weekend is the perfect time to be with my family. :)

Thanks to everyone. I'm stuffed from all the good food. The best part was I didn't have to cook or clean up. Though I did bring some of my homemade killer chocolate chunk cookies. :-)

The wayward post collegiate kids as well as our wayward collegiate ones ...and then there are those still spounging off of us ... have all been here sicne Wednesday. It's been nice to have the whole clan under one roof. Its getting harder and harder every year.

Having said that, come sunday the mass exodus begins and that is when I will take advantage of a one day heritage event, known as the Pillsbury Memorial. I thought it be fitting since I just completed my study of the Hasting's 1895 event where Harry has his best career result.

Good luck out in Redmond. If you make it to Seatle, you must check out the Wild Ginger.

BP: Ahhhh the joys of holidays with the family. Our family gathers for Christmas instead. Thanksgiving is the freelance holiday.

I won't make into Seattle itself. I didn't rent a car, so I'm prety much stranded in Redmond. I did meet DK last night. More to follow in my next post.

I saw that you're playing in the Pillsbury Open. I played it in 1975 when it 5 rounds over two days in the classical time limit of the time. 50/2 25/1, 25/1 ad infinitim...
