Shameless Plug Time!!!

Last year I put up a post with a picture of me wearing a lot less then I would during a chess tournament. Don't get excited. No bikini shot. Sorry guys I was walking a marathon. The picture was in response to Edwin's and DK's sexy babe pics. Here is another picture from that same race.

At the time I was not looking for donations because my fundraising was done for the year. It's a new year, and once again I will spending the third weekend in October in San Francisco doing the Nike Women's Marathon on behalf of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

In response to last year's post, I received the following comment:

Next year maybe I'll make a shameless plug.

Please do (and now you'll be able to say that it is by request!).

So at Glenn's request here is my shameless plug for a wonderful cause that I've been involved with since 2003.

Thanks!

Wow, what a shameless plug!

DK & Glenn: I think it beats selling Castling Queen Side tee shirts and mugs. :-) All kidding aside I'm a firm believer in their mission, and have seen personally what terrific things they do, so I'm proud to throw my shameless plug onto my blog.

Most of your posts get like 15 responses, but not this one! Only three of us have donated so far. I think you need a gimmick!

Lizzy said we wouldn't get hit by a bus for a week if we helped her student go to Philly. That's very practical if you live in NYC. The Catholic Church once upon a time took away all your sins for a price. How about you promise Caissa will raise our ratings by one elo for every dollar gifted?

Wow, that would be a great deal!

I'm thinking of entering a tournament next weekend, "The Continental Open." The entry fee is $124, if I send in my check by tomorrow, or $140 at the door.

Depending on whether I commute ($30 in gas each day) or stay at a motel ($50 - 70 per night, if I can find a room mate), plus meals,

. . . and I'm looking at an outlay of at least $250 - $300.

I'd love to be able to gain that many points in one tournament!

Hmm, maybe I should move my body too, once in a while.

Like and ES: LOL if only I could do such a thing! I'd raise thousands of dollars and the all the ratings would be over inflated.

I have a bunch of letters and emails to still send out. I just thought I'd throw this out to the chess blogosphere as a starter.

With the price of everything going through the roof I realize that many charities will have difficulty meeting their fund raising goals this year.

Well, the "Titanium" donation is a little out of reach, but this is certainly worthy cause. Let's get Polly to her goal quick guys!

LEP: That one is a bit pricy, but I do appreciate what ever support people can give. Thanks for your contribution.
